Brothers Eric & Ethan Funk complete their undergraduate education and pursue RF engineering careers. Eric completes his Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, eventually becoming a Research Engineer at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC. Ethan hones his RF Design skills in industry, working in Rochester (NY), as well as in the Maryland/DC Metro area and Boston.
Drawn by the majestic mountains of Colorado, a love of outdoor adventures, and an entrepreneurial spirit, Ethan and Eric combine their skills and expertise to form Red Mountain Radio LLC in Ouray, CO. Ouray, known as a basecamp for outdoor adventure, now became our basecamp for RF Design as we equipped a complete RF development lab. The firm's namesake, Red Mountain, was home to a world-famous silver mining boom in the 1880s.
The firm began with specialized RF design for aeronautical communications and radar. As the consumer electronics industry grew, we increasingly delivered full-product designs, integrating RF, power, and digital circuitry with embedded microprocessors and software. Increasingly, we've become a one-stop destination for electronics design.
