Eric Funk is a founding partner of Red Mountain Radio LLC. He has worked in many aspects of the RF/microwave field as a Naval Research Lab Research Engineer, Senior RF Design Engineer, and university Principal Investigator. He co-founded Red Mountain Radio LLC in 2003.

Dr. Funk has an extensive peer-reviewed publications record and patented work spanning the fields of photonics, ultra-wideband communications, radar, and lidar. His recent long-haul microwave fiber link work is featured in Microwave Photonics, the monograph devoted to this field, now in its second edition.

Dr. Funk has also served as a guest editor of the (2003) Microwave Photonics Special Issue of the  IEEE Journal on Lightwave Technology, and was previously Chapter Chair of the Washington, DC /Northern Virginia  IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S). He has also served as Chair of the City of Ouray Economic Development Committee.

Ethan Funk is a founding partner of Red Mountain Radio LLC. Ethan Funk's previous consulting work included design of transmitters and receivers, analog design for a pen capable of recording what has been written, feasibility studies for space based GPS systems, and development of control devices for interactive museum exhibits.

Mr. Funk has also worked as a Senior RF Design Engineer at Racal Communications Inc. in Rockville, MD where he was responsible for VHF radio subsystem design and at Harris RF Communications in Rochester NY where his responsibilities included rack level system design.


John D. Battles

On portions of designs that involve FPGA design, we contract with John D. Battles of Mountain Storm Instruments LLC. Mr. Battles is an expert in FPGA and ASIC Design w/ VHDL and Verilog. He has previousy worked as a Research Engineer with Los Alamos National Lab, and as an ASIC designer at Compaq Computer Company. He founded Mountain Storm Instruments LLC in 2009.
